FloReMus – SOUND MONUMENTS: The organ of Dionigi Romani from 1581

with Umberto Cerini, organ

with the participation of the Cappella Musicale della Basilica di San Lorenzo

music  by A. Padovano, G. Guami, C. Malvezzi, G. Cavazzoni, G. Gabrieli

The aim of this visit is to better understand the role and characteristics of one of the ancient instruments remaining in the city, dating back to the end of the 16th century (despite some later renovations), located in one of the oldest Florentine churches, built in the 12th century “outside the walls” and rebuilt in the 15th century in the center of the artisans’ village.

The events of the Sound Monuments series aim to highlight the beautiful and exceptional Renaissance organs that have been preserved in some Florentine churches.
