The program includes a selection from the very rich madrigal repertoire, the new musical genre that will spread during the third decade of the XVI cent. from Florence towards Rome and Venice. Through the texts of Machiavelli, Michelangelo, Bembo and the music of Verdelot, Arcadelt, Festa and others, amorous themes are interwoven with the inevitable political implications of the complex and turbulent Italian scene.
